Thriller genres can vary from each other a lot for example Gravity and Lucy. This films are both thrillers however they both seem so different. As both the characters are very contrasting as Lucy seems very powerful and always in control of the situation as for Gravity the protagonist is seen to be vulnerable and is never in control (in space). Also the mise en scene of the lighting was that it was a lot brighter and easier to see and gravity is very dark and lonely atmosphere (as one was set in space and one was on earth).
However in both of the films the protagonist are women which is a counter type for men being stronger then women. Tension is mostly created through the use of sound to make it seem more dramatic than it usually is
