Change in location

Our group had decided to change locations as we thought that having our old location would not suit the atmosphere that we are trying to create. This is because there are only 2 containers therefore it would be hard to film, however if the scene was stacked full off containers it would suit the scene much more.

The new location we chose is the car park on Radnor road. We chose this location because it suited the concept we were looking for, as it is abandoned and deserted meaning that there would not be a lot of people in that area. This fits out mise en scene as we needed the location to seem secluded as it would fit with our thriller as the hit man would not take them somewhere busy to kill them.

The second location we used, was where the hit man kills the victim. This location seems very abandoned and unvisited therefore the victim would not be found making it a suitable place to dump a body.

How many locations do you have?
We will be using 2 locations for our media thriller. One is the car park where our Car is going to be situated at while the other location is inside the forest/woods near the Car Park

What issues can you foresee?
The main issues will be the same as our last location which is the weather due to its unpredictability. The weather forecast predicts that it will be raining for a few minutes. Nevertheless this would still be used as it would create a more suspense and tense environment, however it might take longer to film as our film equipment isn't rain compatible.

How long do we intend on being there?
We intend on being there as long as our previous location which is approx. 6/7 hours. We intend on spending 5 hours in our first location (car park) and 1 to 2 hours in our second location (forest) depending on the weather as the weather could vary the time the crew sets up a little to finding a more suitable locations (less muddy)

Where is it?
We will be shooting our thriller outside of school, which is a 4 minute drive away. The blue box on the top left is our locations which is a large car park that we will be intending to use our thriller as a location. The on the bottom right is my school, hurtwood house there you can see its only going to be a few minute drive.

Do we have permission
As it is public property we have been allowed to film in this location and our group has confirmed it with the media department.

Location (Old)

How many locations do you have?
We will be using 1 locations for our media thriller, this is because we will be filming around the car at the back of our school.

What issues can you foresee?
The main problem the the weather as it is very unappreciable as it says on the weather forecast that it is likely going to be raining. However if it rains it would only build more suspense for the thriller, nevertheless this will make it harder to film during the set

How long do we intend on being there?
We intend on being there for approx 6/7 hours if the weather is fine and we set up and prepare early for the shoot.

Where is it?
We are shooting our thriller outside of the back of the studio at school as we thought it looked like a good setting for a thriller with the natural mise en scene, and with the containers which gives it a sinister vibe

This is the location however there the container will be closed

Do we have permission
As it is in school grounds we have been given permission to use the back of the studio to film the our thriller. We have been given permission form the Media Studies department

Similar Media Text

Dexter, Leon, Taken, Hitman (video game) and run all night are all similar media text to our thriller

Dexter (Tv Show) was produced by Showtime Networks in 2006 and the main actor is Michael C. Hall. The plot is "A Miami police forensics expert moonlights as a serial killer of criminals whom he believes have escaped justice.- IMDB" It's the idea of how the audience feels sympathy towards the killer.

Leon (Movie) was produced by Gaumont in 1994 and its directed and written by Luc Besson. It stars Jean Reno, Gary Oldman, Natalie Portman. The plot is about "Mathilda, a 12-year-old girl, is reluctantly taken in by Léon, a professional assassin, after her family is murdered. Léon and Mathilda form an unusual relationship, as she becomes his protégée and learns the assassin's trade. - IMDB" It's the idea of how the audience feels sympathy towards the killer similar to dexter.

Hitman (Video Game) is developed by a Danish IO interactive and its available in PS3, Xbox and Windows, IOS and Android. It was made in 2014 and it has the same idea of having it at the hit mans perspective.

Run All Night (Movie) is produced by Vertigo in 2015 and it directed by Jaume Collet Serra. Its starts Liam Neeson, the plot is about "Mobster and hit man Jimmy Conlon has one night to figure out where his loyalties lie: with his estranged son, Mike, whose life is in danger, or his longtime best friend, mob boss Shawn Maguire, who wants Mike to pay for the death of his own son." Our idea is based on how the hit man kills his bosses son for
his own justified reason

Intended Target Audience

My intended target audience for my upcoming thriller will be 15+, as our movie is intended on being a crime thriller/action. Therefore our shots are likely to be very suspenseful using variety of different camera angles and shots to create suspension. Therefore our target age range is likely going to be 18 to 19 year old being dominated mostly by men. The reason the target audience is most likely going to be dominated by a male audience is because most crime thriller consist of a full male cast, which in it self helps make attract a male audience. Plus general stereotypes of men tend to enjoy violence and blood, which we will try to include in our thriller

The target audience is likely going to be young adults and teens. They are mostly likely going to university. They are mostly likely going to we hard working and go out to cinemas with friends on the weekend. The audience will most likely be attracted by our film through the use of special effect like gun shots effects to make it more realistic and suspenseful.

In our thriller we are going to have an unanswered question to reel the audience into watching the movie. This tends to interest the audience as it making the audience confused.

The use of a Silencer in our Media Shoot

We added a silencer in our Thriller opening sequence as our group felt it was an essential concept of the prop list as it added more meaning to the backstory of our thriller. It also help make it seem more realistic (add realism) in to the opening sequence as the situation made more sense due to the clothing that our hit man. This is due to the fact that our hit man will be wearing a trench coat with a suit (in the picture on the right) as we made him model for the shoot in order see if it seems convincing enough in that costume. This meant gave our group a clearer idea of how our actor is going to look like for our media thriller

It was also to make it seem more realistic as hit man usually use a silencer because without the silencer it would make the gun much louder which defeats the purpose of him being a hit man. Due to the clothing of our hit man he gives connotations to the audience that he is a professional therefore having a silencer suits the character more. This is also adds more meaning to our media thriller as it makes it seem like he has been hired or had trained experience in the field. Therefore the audience wants to find out the backstory of why he killed him giving it more depth.
